Which Type of Water Softener is Right for Your San Antonio Home?

Choosing a water softener can feel overwhelming with so many options available. This guide breaks down the main types of water softeners we install, explaining how each works and who it is best suited for. Our goal is to give you the knowledge to make a confident, informed decision.

Salt-Based Ion Exchange Softeners (The Gold Standard)

This is the most common and most effective type of water softener. It works by passing hard water through a resin tank filled with tiny resin beads. The beads attract and hold the calcium and magnesium ions and release sodium ions in their place. The result is genuinely soft water. This is the type we most commonly recommend for San Antonio homes due to our extreme 21 GPG water hardness.

Dual-Tank Systems (Best for Large Families)

A dual-tank system has two resin tanks, so while one is regenerating, the other is actively softening water. This means you always have soft water available, even during the regeneration cycle. This is the best option for large families or homes with high water usage.
